Finding the Sanctum of Temperance in Pywel
The Sanctum of Temperance is situated within the Hernand region, positioned between the northern Unicorn Cliffs and the dense Pororin Forest to the east. If you have not yet advanced the local story to gain friendly access to the nearby Pororin village, it is highly recommended to approach the ruin from the north or west. Taking this path allows you to successfully bypass aggressive native patrols that can disrupt your journey before you even arrive at the site.
It is important to note that arriving at the ruins too early will prevent you from interacting with the main mechanics. Access to this particular monument formally unlocks when you initiate the Witch of Wisdom faction quest line involving the companion character Elowen. She will task you with cleansing four unique Sanctums across Pywel, making this location a crucial stop during your mid-game progression.
How to Cleanse the Ancient Machine Puzzle
Before attempting to solve the environmental puzzle, you must completely clear out the religious zealots and aggressive flying enemies guarding the perimeter. This ancient structure is easily recognizable by its massive stone platform, four distinct perimeter columns, and a central kiln structure resembling an old forge.
The first missing part is a stone pillar top called the Fusion Reactor Core, which sits trapped inside a nearby tower covered in thick, hazardous brambles. Players can clear these vines away instantly by utilizing the Blinding Flash ability or firing a well-placed fire arrow into the growth. Use your Axiom Force power to lift the pillar piece, position it directly over the southwest broken column, and secure it by executing a jumping Aerial Force Palm directly on top of the component.
The second missing component is a square stone cube located down a flight of stairs on the northern side of the main ruin site.
